A genuine formed retaining clamp used to secure the hydraulic hose routing in the power-steering assembly on late-generation Volvo Penta V6 and V8 gasoline installations. Correct hose restraint prevents movement, chafing and contact with adjacent engine or flywheel-housing components while preserving the intended bend radius of the steering hose.

🔌 Function

Secures the power-steering hose to the designated mounting point so the hose cannot move excessively, rub through, kink or load its fittings as the engine vibrates and the steering system operates.

• Fit a new clamp rather than reusing one that has been distorted, stretched or corroded; a band that has been drawn down onto a hose once rarely grips evenly again
• Use the correct size and type for the joint — an over-large clamp will not draw down evenly and can cut into a soft hose instead of gripping it
• Position the clamp fully over the spigot or pipe bead, clear of the hose end, and tighten only until the joint is secure; over-tightening crushes hoses, pipes and cable insulation
• Set the screw or head where you can reach it for later checks, and make sure the clamp is not resting anywhere it will chafe a neighbouring hose or harness
• Re-check tightness after the first run up to temperature, as hoses relax and settle once they have been heated
