🔌 Function

Attenuates exhaust noise and provides the specified SCR C28 exhaust path. Correct internal volume and inlet/outlet orientation are required to control pressure drop, maintain aftertreatment temperature and connect to the certified exhaust installation.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Carry the muffler on its own mountings so that its load is taken by the structure and not by the exhaust hose, pipework or the turbocharger outlet
• Fit it the right way round and to the correct fall — these units are directional, and the run must let water drain away and never allow it to run back towards the engine
• Use two corrosion-resistant clamps on each wet exhaust hose joint, staggered so the screw housings are not in line, and check the hose ends are clean, sound and pushed fully home over the spigot
• Check the whole exhaust run and its hangers while the muffler is out — old soot, water staining or a sagging hose downstream tells you why the last one failed
• Where a drain plug is fitted, use it to drain the unit for winter layup, and check for leaks and unusual noise once the engine has been run and the system is hot
