🛠️ Service Notes
- Note which way round the plate came off, and where its dowels, locating pins and any oil or water passages sit; it will often bolt up reversed but will not work
- Clean both faces fully, removing all old gasket and sealant without scoring them, and check the plate for flatness, cracks and corrosion
- Fit new gaskets, seals and O-rings on both sides, and use sealant only where the workshop manual for your engine calls for it
- Draw the fasteners down evenly, in the sequence and to the figures given for your engine, and check for leaks after the first run at temperature
