🔌 Function

Spreads fastener load evenly across the cover and its seal, so the joint clamps square and the seal is compressed uniformly rather than pinched at one point.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Coolant weeping from under the cover after tightening
  • The plate visibly bowed, cracked or heavily corroded
  • The seal below it crushed on one side and barely marked on the other
  • The cover still able to move once the fasteners are tight
  • The same seal failing again shortly after being renewed
