Type K is the stainless steel Duoprop range designed specifically for the Volvo Penta Forward Drive. The propellers are made of a strong and durable stainless steel to provide excellent acceleration and top speed, and the patented bushing, made of a naval brass, reduces vibrations and stress on the drivetrain components while galvanically isolating the stainless steel propeller from the aluminium drive casting. This number supplies the complete K4 pair, front propeller 22414379 and rear propeller 22414385. Every set of Duoprop propellers is designed, tested and manufactured together, so the front and rear propellers of a dimension belong to each other.

🔌 Function

Supplies both counter-rotating propellers of a Duoprop drive as one matched pair, so front and rear stay at the same dimension and the torque split between them remains the one the drive was designed around.

• Vibration through the hull that worsens with speed
• Blade edges chipped, bent or eroded on either propeller
• Loss of top speed, or slow to plane, at the same engine rpm
• Engine over-revving under load, pointing to a slipped hub
• Pitting or corrosion across the blade faces

🛠️ Service Notes

• Order by the K number rather than by weight: the six Type K dimensions share one name and one fitment list, and the published set weight is not the sum of its two propellers (15.422 kg for the set against 9.163 kg and 7.439 kg for front 22414379 and rear 22414385)
• Renewing both propellers together keeps front and rear at the same dimension, which is what the drive needs
• The bushing is designed to galvanically isolate the propeller from the drive, which greatly reduces anode consumption and prevents galvanic corrosion caused by the propeller, so fit the genuine propeller and bushing rather than an unbushed substitute
• Installation hardware, type K: propeller hardware kit 22592621 (containing propeller cone 22413546, hex socket screws 60111646 and 963683, front propeller nut 22477740 and rear propeller nut 22477738), plus flow deflector 22436582.
