🔌 Function

Distributes battery supply, earth and sensor signalling around the engine on one made-up loom, so each branch reaches its own connector along the route the installation was designed for.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Warning lamps or stored codes that come and go with vibration
  • Several unrelated circuits reporting faults at the same time
  • Green or white corrosion inside a connector shell
  • Outer sheath chafed or heat-hardened where the loom crosses a bracket or a hot pipe
  • Broken core inside intact insulation, found only when a branch is flexed under a continuity test

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Back-probe the connectors and wiggle-test each branch before condemning a loom this size, since a single corroded pin gives the same symptoms
  • Photograph the routing and every clip position before removal, then refit the new loom the same way so it cannot chafe in the same place
  • Cure whatever damaged the old loom first, or the replacement will fail at the same point
