🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta starter element from the Starting System group, weighing 1.565 kg and listed for 44 applications across TAD and D series engines. It consolidates earlier references 22224078 and 21933716. Starting components carry very high current briefly, so connection condition matters as much as the element itself.

🚤 Compatibility

  • Engine Family: TAD, D

Full model list at the end of this description.

⚙️ Key Features

  • 1.565 kg
  • 44 applications across TAD and D series engines
  • Consolidates 22224078 and 21933716
  • Starting System group
  • Also supersedes Volvo part number 21736506

🔌 Function

Forms part of the starting circuit, carrying a heavy current for the short period the engine is being started.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine slow to start, or reluctant to start when cold
  • No response, or a single click, when the key is turned
  • Heavy discharge from the battery during starting
  • Terminals or cable ends corroded, discoloured or heat-marked
  • Circuit protection tripping while starting

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the battery condition, the main earth and the heavy cable joints before condemning the element, since voltage drop across a poor connection gives the same symptoms
  • This number replaces both 22224078 and 21933716, so either of those on an old invoice comes through to this part
