Carries oil between two points in the lubrication circuit, holding the flow on the route the engine's oil pressure depends on.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Oil weeping or dripping along the run or at a union
- Oil pressure lower than expected, or the warning lamp flickering
- Bright rub marks or chafing where the pipe touches a bracket or hose
- A crack or split at a bend or close to a union
- Union threads or sealing faces damaged so the joint will not pull up tight
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the sealing washers or O-rings at each union rather than reusing them
- Refit every clip and standoff that was removed - an unsupported oil pipe chafes through at the first contact point
