🔌 Function
Smooths the firing pulses and carries the clutch friction face, sized here for a 285 mm damper.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Judder or snatch as the drive takes up
- Vibration that varies with engine speed
- Friction face scored, blued or heat-cracked
- Ring gear teeth chipped or worn, with the starter grinding
- Bolt holes elongated or fasteners found slack
🛠️ Service Notes
- Match the damper diameter to the clutch - 285 mm is the defining figure and a mismatched clutch will not run true
