• Face bowed, or cracks between ports, found on removal
• Studs seized or broken and gaskets blown at a single port

• Check the head face and the manifold face for flatness before refitting, as a bowed manifold blows gaskets repeatedly
• Renew gaskets, nuts and any corroded studs, and tighten evenly from the centre outwards
