🔌 Function

Draws seawater in through the inlet and pushes it through the heat exchanger and out with the exhaust, carrying engine heat overboard as the raw water half of the cooling system.

• Reduced or no water at the exhaust outlet
• Coolant temperature rising, especially under load
• Squeal, rumble or a visible wobble at the pump pulley
• Salt crust or a drip at the pump's weep hole
• Impeller found shredded, or the housing and cover plate scored on strip-down

• Check the impeller, the strainer and the seawater inlet before condemning the pump - most raw water flow faults sit upstream of it
• Account for every impeller blade if one has shed; missing pieces lodge in the heat exchanger
• Renew the impeller and the cover gasket whenever the pump is opened
