🔌 Function
Carries fuel at delivery pressure to cylinders 3 and 4, its bends and length fixed by the run between the pump or rail and the injectors.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Diesel smell or a wet film along the pipe run
- Knock or misfire on one of the cylinders it serves
- Hard starting or a drop in power
- Cone ends found fretted, ring-marked or cracked on strip-down
- Chafe mark where the pipe has touched a neighbouring pipe or bracket
🛠️ Service Notes
- Do not refit a high-pressure pipe that has been removed once the cone has bedded
- Refit the clamps and spacers as originally set - an unsupported pipe fatigues and cracks at the cone
- Tighten the unions to the workshop manual's figure; overtightening deforms the cone and causes the leak
