• Fixings found loose, stretched or snapped at the head
• Warped or corroded flange faces and cracked runners on strip-down

• Renew the flange gaskets and check the studs for stretch or corrosion while the manifold is off
• Straight-edge the flange faces before refitting, as a distorted face will blow a new gasket quickly
