🔧 Product Description
Genuine Volvo Penta Active Corrosion Protection kit for a single sterndrive installation. By monitoring and controlling the electrical potential in the water surrounding the drive, the ACP system ensures optimal protection in any type of brackish or salt water, and the status of the corrosion protection can always be read on the EVC display, 2.5", 4", 7" or Glass Cockpit. All parts needed for the installation are included in the kit.

📋 Kit Contents
- Control unit
- Transom unit
- Back-up zinc anode - two anodes for twin Aquamatic sterndrives
- Wiring and installation instructions
🔌 Function
Uses impressed current cathodic protection: it constantly monitors the drive's electrode potential and adjusts the current output through the transom unit to hold the drive within safe potential levels.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- A corrosion protection warning or fault shown on the display
- Corrosion appearing on the drive even though the system is fitted
- Back-up anode or reference surface fouled, painted over or wasted away
- Controller not powering up, or dropping out intermittently
- Cable connections corroded, chafed or waterlogged
🛠️ Service Notes
- The installation must be a fibreglass hull with EVC generation C2 or later and a 2.5, 4 or 7 inch EVC display or Glass Cockpit, so confirm the generation and layout before ordering - 23254031 is the twin-installation kit
- A single Aquamatic sterndrive typically draws under 50 mA, against a system capacity of 3 A, so a system reading no current at all is worth investigating before it is condemned
- Keep shore power connected while berthed: below 75% battery state of charge the system drops to monitoring only and the back-up anode carries the protection, and below 50% it stops altogether
- Requirements: a Volvo Penta IPS or an Aquamatic DPI, DPH, DPS, SX, OX, FWD or DPR sterndrive; Electronic Vessel Control generation C2 or later; a 2.5in, 4in or 7in EVC display or Glass Cockpit; and a fibreglass hull
- Twin Aquamatic sterndrive installations are supplied with two back-up anodes
- Extra bonding cable is needed between IPS units on triple and quad installations - one for a triple, two for a quad
- Volvo Penta recommends keeping shore power connected while berthed
- Below 50% battery state of charge the system is inactive and protection comes entirely from the back-up anodes
- Typical consumption is under 350 mA for a triple IPS1/10 installation with unpainted drives; with painted drives that can fall below 50 mA
- Always follow Volvo Penta's instructions for painting IPS drives, and the legislation governing antifouling paints where the boat is used
