🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta VDS-4.5 15W-40 engine oil in a 5 litre container. The VDS-4.5 specification and the 15W-40 viscosity grade are both critical - a lower oil specification can shorten the service interval the engine is approved for.

🔌 Function

Lubricates, cools and cleans inside the engine. The VDS-4.5 additive package holds soot in suspension and protects the bearings, liners and valve gear between drain intervals.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oil black and thin on the dipstick well before the change is due
  • Creamy, mayonnaise-like deposits under the filler cap, pointing to water or coolant in the oil
  • A fuel smell in the oil, or the level rising rather than falling
  • Metallic glitter on the dipstick or found in the filter at a change
  • Level falling between checks with no visible leak

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Change the filter with the oil and refill to the dipstick mark rather than to a nominal capacity
  • A lower oil specification can shorten the service interval the engine is approved for, so match VDS-4.5 rather than substituting
