🔌 Function

Sits between two assemblies and sets the spacing and alignment between them, while carrying the fasteners and sealing the joint it forms.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil or water weeping from the joint the plate forms
• Fasteners found loose or the joint face fretted and polished
• Warp or distortion seen when the plate is laid on a flat surface
• Cracking radiating from a bolt hole
• End float or backlash out of specification after assembly

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the gaskets and seals either side of the plate whenever it is disturbed
• Check the plate for flatness before reusing surrounding parts - a distorted plate throws the shaft alignment out
