Volvo Penta's instruments for non-EVC gasoline engines are based on the well proven design concept used by the EVC instruments, but modified to communicate with all gasoline applications produced 2008 or later. With the tachometer gateway (easy link), additional EVC gauges become available to form a complete dashboard range. The speedometer features a built-in GPS for accurate speed and has a display for viewing course over ground and heading. This is the white dial version.

🔌 Function

Calculates boat speed and course from satellite position data and shows them at the helm, without depending on a pitot or paddlewheel sensor.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Speed or course display blank
• GPS position not acquired, or acquired only intermittently
• Speed reading that drops out at random
• Lens fogging or backlighting failure
• Reading affected when the power or earth connection is disturbed

🛠️ Service Notes

• The front ring and mounting items are not supplied with the instrument and must be ordered separately
• Black-dialled 23045963 is the same speedometer, so the choice is panel colour
• Mount it where the built-in GPS has a clear view of the sky, since a screened position is the usual reason for a missing fix
• Cable 23190000 (7 m) between engine and tachometer is required
• Extension cables from the tachometer to the additional instruments are 874759 at 1 m and 3807043 at 3 m
• In addition to the tachometer and speedometer, engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, drive trim position, fuel tank level and battery voltage instruments can be connected, all available with a white or black dial
