- Belt squeal, or the belt running off the edge of a pulley
- Component moving on its mount or charging intermittently
- Cracks at the bolt holes or across a mounting boss
- Elongated holes and fretting where the fixings have worked loose

- Renew the mounting fasteners and check the tensioner while the bracket is off
