🔌 Function

Bolts an inlet or exhaust component to the engine and holds it at its designed position, carrying the component's weight and the vibration that would otherwise be taken by its pipe joints.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Knock or rattle from the induction or exhaust side that rises and falls with engine speed
• Cracks radiating from a bolt hole or running out of a formed bend
• Mounting holes worn oval by a fixing that has been slack
• Fixings that will not stay tight however carefully they are torqued
• The component it carries sitting out of line with its mating flange

🛠️ Service Notes

• Start every fixing before pulling any of them down, so the bracket is not forced into position and left under load
• If the bracket has cracked, check the other mounts on the same component before fitting a new one - one failed mount usually loads the rest
