  • Water in the drive oil, or oil showing in the bilge
  • Oil weeping from the shaft area
  • Sleeve found grooved, hardened or split on removal
  • Shaft surface worn into a ring where the seal has run
  • Salt or grit deposits behind the seal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Inspect the shaft or sleeve surface the seal runs on - a grooved surface will destroy a new seal
  • Fit dry or with the lubricant specified, and press the sleeve squarely to avoid distorting it
  • Renew the mating seals in the same area at the same time
