🔌 Function

Pulls two flanged joint faces together with a V-section band, clamping them square so the joint stays gas tight.

  • Whistle, puff or soot at the clamped joint under load
  • Band stretched, distorted or no longer round
  • T-bolt or nut seized, stripped or snapped on removal
  • Cracks in the band, usually at the trunnion or a spot weld
  • Joint that keeps loosening no matter how often it is retightened

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Tighten evenly and to the specified torque - pulling a V-clamp up hard on one side cocks the joint and it will leak
  • Renew the clamp rather than reusing a stretched one, and check both flange faces for damage first
  • Retighten after the first heat cycle where the procedure calls for it
