🔌 Function

Moves air through the cooling circuit so heat is carried away from the engine.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration, or a new whine or rumble from the front of the engine
• Visible cracks at the blade roots, a bent or missing blade, or damage from a broken belt
• Coolant temperature climbing at idle and low speed but settling at cruise, where airflow is doing the work
• Play or wobble felt when the fan is turned by hand

🛠️ Service Notes

• Handle the fan carefully and never fit one that is cracked, chipped or distorted — an out-of-balance fan wrecks the pulley bearing and can break up in service
• Check the hub, pulley and drive belt while the fan is off, and make sure the fan turns true with no wobble once fitted
• Fit the fan the correct way round so it moves air in the original direction, and tighten the fasteners evenly to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine
• Confirm the blade tips clear the shroud, hoses and wiring all the way round before starting the engine
