- Sealing face scored or corroded so the joint will not stay dry
- Hose end at the fitting swelling, softening or slipping off

- Renew the hose and clamp at the same time if either has hardened or bedded into the fitting
- Do not overtighten into an alloy housing, the thread there gives up long before the fitting does
