🔌 Function

Lets trapped air out of the circuit when it is opened, then seals against the fluid once it is closed.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Response in the circuit spongy or slow
  • Weeping at the valve after a bleed
  • Air still present however many times the circuit is bled
  • Nipple or its seat corroded, or the valve seized shut
  • Hex rounded off by a poor-fitting spanner

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew rather than force a seized bleeder - a snapped nipple usually means removing the whole component
  • Use a proper bleed nipple spanner and refit the dust cap afterwards
