🔌 Function

Holds the coolant reserve, gives the coolant somewhere to expand as it heats, and lets air separate out of the circuit so the system stays full and pressurised.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Coolant level dropping with no leak found elsewhere
• Crusted coloured residue down the outside of the tank or around the cap
• Tank found crazed, split at a moulding seam or bulged
• Overheating or temperature swings from air trapped in the system
• Cap seat damaged so the system will not hold pressure

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the pressure cap with the tank and check the system holds its rated pressure afterwards
• Because it replaces two earlier tanks, check which is actually on the engine and confirm the serial number before ordering
• Bleed the circuit fully after refilling - trapped air imitates a failed thermostat
