⚙️ Key Features

• Pin from the Cooling System group
• 0.018 kg
• Supersedes 23210443 and covers its 99 V series applications

🔌 Function

Locates or retains one cooling system component against another, taking the shear load so the parts cannot move out of position.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Play or knock where the pin should be holding the joint tight
• Pin found bent, stepped or polished from working in its bore
• Bore worn oval so the pin is loose
• Retaining clip missing, letting the pin walk out
• Corrosion seizing the pin in place on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check the pin and its bore for wear, ovality, scoring and corrosion; a worn pin in a worn bore shows up as lost motion in whatever it links
• Fit the pin the correct way round and to the correct depth, driving it with a punch that bears on the pin rather than on the surrounding casting
• Secure it with the same retaining device as originally used — a new split pin, clip or circlip; never reuse a split pin and never straighten and refit a bent pin
• A light smear of a suitable marine grease on assembly slows corrosion and keeps the pin free for next time
• Check that the linkage or component the pin carries moves through its full travel freely once everything is assembled
