Runs its sprung lip against the rotating shaft to hold oil in the housing and keep water and dirt out.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil weeping or dripping from the shaft area
• Milky or emulsified oil showing water has been getting in
• Seal lip found hardened, split or turned back on removal
• A wear groove polished into the shaft where the lip runs
• Garter spring found displaced or corroded

🛠️ Service Notes

• It is available on its own as well as within kits 23370770 and 23370769, so buy the single seal when only that one is at fault
• Never refit a lip seal that has been out - fit new, lubricate the lip and press it in square with the correct drift
• Inspect the shaft for a wear groove; a new seal on a grooved shaft will leak again
