🔌 Function

Carries coolant between two points in the engine's cooling circuit, holding the route rigid where a hose would chafe or collapse.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Coolant loss with a white or coloured crust at the joints
  • Low coolant alarm or the header tank needing topping up
  • Damp or dripping at a union after a cold start
  • Corrosion pinholes or blistering along the pipe
  • Perished O-rings or internal scale restricting flow, found on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the O-rings or gaskets at both ends rather than reusing them
  • Pressure test the cooling system after fitting and check the joints hot and cold
  • Refit all the original support clips, as an unsupported pipe fatigues at its unions
