Seals a joint in the pod drive, keeping lubricating oil inside the gearcase and seawater outside it.

  • Oil sheen on the water around the drive
  • Gear oil level dropping between services
  • Grey or milky oil on the drain sample
  • Seal lip hardened, torn or grooved on removal
  • Rope or line found wound in behind the seal

  • Inspect the running surface for a wear groove before fitting a new seal
  • Change the gear oil after fitting and check the first sample for water
