• One kit covers one cylinder: the four-cylinder engine takes four and the six-cylinder six, so order the quantity the engine actually needs rather than a single kit.
• The rail and delivery pipes hold fuel at very high pressure - follow the workshop manual's depressurising procedure before opening any high-pressure connection, and cap every port the moment it is open.
• Fit the sealing washer and seals supplied in the kit; the originals will have taken a set and will not seal a second time.
• The injector is located by its sleeve and held by a clamp and screw - tighten the clamp and the delivery pipe union to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine, because both an over- and an under-tightened clamp will distort the seal at the injector's sealing washer.
• Common-rail injectors are individually calibrated. Where the engine's control system requires the new injector's code to be entered, this must be done with Volvo Penta diagnostic equipment before the engine goes back into service - check the procedure for your engine.
