Forms the middle housing of the drive assembly, carrying the shafts and bearings and joining the upper and lower sections together.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Oil weeping from the joints between sections
- Water in the drive oil, showing as a grey emulsion
- Rumble or vibration that changes with shaft speed
- Bearing bores found worn, or the housing cracked on strip-down
- Corrosion pitting on the outer casting

- Renew all joint seals and o-rings whenever the sections are separated
- Pressure-test the drive after assembly before the boat goes back in the water
