🔌 Function

The strainer basket traps weed, shell fragments and other debris before seawater reaches the pump, coolers and exhaust system.

• Reduced raw-water flow
• Engine overheats under load
• Basket is cracked or obstructed
• Cover O-ring leaks air or seawater
• Debris reaches the seawater pump

🛠️ Service Notes

• Lay the kit out and check it against what came off before starting, and fit the whole kit — every seal, ring and small part supplied — rather than picking pieces out of it
• Work clean: cap openings, catch what drains, and never let dirt reach the clean side of a filter housing
• Lubricate new seals and gaskets with the clean fluid they will run in, seat them properly, and bring filters up hand-tight to their seating then to the manual figure rather than as hard as they will go
• Fill, prime and vent the system as the workshop manual for your engine sets out, then run up and check every joint under pressure
• Update the maintenance record, and check the joints again after the first proper run once the new seals have bedded in
