🔌 Function
The wear surfaces and seals maintain impeller chamber compression, pump suction and seawater containment.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Weak raw-water flow
- Cover or wear plate is grooved
- Water leaks from pump joints
- Pump draws air and loses prime
- New impeller wears prematurely
🛠️ Service Notes
- Fit the complete kit in one go — the parts are supplied together because they wear together, and mixing new parts with old wearing parts wastes the job
- Clean and inspect the housing and mating faces before assembly; new wearing parts will not last against a scored, pitted or corroded counterface, so deal with that first
- Renew every seal, O-ring and gasket supplied and lubricate rubber parts lightly on assembly so they seat instead of rolling or tearing
- Account for all the old material you remove, so that no fragment of a worn part is left inside the assembly or carried downstream
- Check free movement and correct assembly by hand before closing up, and check for leaks and normal operation once running
