• The engine does not use one injector part number throughout: Volvo Penta lists more than one injector kit for this cylinder head, so check the engine designation and serial number before ordering.
• Renew the injector seals and inspect the injector sleeve in the head for corrosion, pitting or signs of leakage while the access is open - a failed sleeve lets coolant or fuel where neither belongs, and it is far cheaper to deal with now than after reassembly.
• Work clean and cap the fuel galleries; a unit injector is intolerant of debris introduced during fitting.
• Where the engine's control system requires the new injector's calibration code to be entered, do so with Volvo Penta diagnostic equipment before returning the engine to service.
