🔌 Function

Returns oil from the turbocharger bearing housing to the sump under gravity, so the drain must stay clear and downhill to work.

  • Blue smoke at idle or on first acceleration
  • Oil weeping at the drain flange or from the turbocharger seals
  • Oil consumption climbing with no external leak
  • Coke and sludge found in the bore on removal
  • Pipe kinked or bent so the fall has been reduced

  • Renew or clear the drain whenever a turbocharger is changed - a restricted return will make the new unit leak
  • Fit new flange gaskets and check the crankcase breather at the same time
