23838511 Bell Housing | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta bell housing weighing 8.010 kg. It supersedes 844519, catalogued earlier as a flywheel housing, and covers its 37 applications across AD, AQAD, D, TMD, MD and TAMD series engines.

⚙️ Key Features

• Bell housing from the Marine Propulsion group
• 8.010 kg
• Supersedes 844519, catalogued earlier as a flywheel housing
• Covers its 37 applications across AD, AQAD, D, TMD, MD and TAMD series engines

🔌 Function

Joins the engine to the transmission or drive, enclosing the flywheel and holding the two units in alignment so the coupling runs true.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration or a knock felt through the installation under load
• Oil weeping from the joints at either face
• Cracks radiating from the bolt holes or around the mounting bosses
• Spigot bore or dowel holes worn, letting alignment slip
• Fixings repeatedly working loose

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check engine to transmission alignment after fitting - a cracked housing is usually the result of misalignment rather than the cause
• An old reference to 844519 as a flywheel housing now points to this part
• Renew the dowels and fasteners the manual calls single-use
