🔌 Function
Lifts the exhaust gas above the waterline and introduces cooling water into the gas stream, protecting the downstream hose and keeping water from running back into the engine.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Rusty water or soot staining at the riser joints
- Steam or a hissing leak from the flange with the engine running
- Rough running or a hydraulic lock after standing, from water tracking back to a cylinder
- Exhaust hose downstream running hot or scorched
- Heavy carbon and rust scale choking the bore when the riser is split off
🛠️ Service Notes
- Several risers in this run sit within a kilogram of this one, so order by part number rather than by size
- Renew the riser gasket and the exhaust hose clamps at the same time
