23948801 Fuel Gauge | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta 52 mm fuel tank level gauge, weighing 0.143 kg. It consolidates earlier references 863940 and 863941, covering their 399 applications across D, TD, AD, TAMD, TMD and MS series engines and units - one of the widest fitments in the catalogue. The sender must match the gauge's signal range.

⚙️ Key Features

• 52 mm fuel tank level gauge
• 0.143 kg
• Consolidates earlier references 863940 and 863941, catalogued before as a 52 mm fuel tank level instrument and as a level gauge
• Covers 399 applications across D, TD, AD, TAMD, TMD and MS series engines and units
• Also supersedes Volvo part number 828632

🔌 Function

Shows how much fuel remains in the tank, driven by the varying resistance signal sent up from the tank sender unit.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Needle sitting at full or empty regardless of what is in the tank
• Reading swinging wildly with boat movement
• Backlighting dead while the needle still works
• Needle sluggish or sticking part way across the dial
• Terminals corroded or the movement seized when the gauge is stripped

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check the tank sender and its earth before condemning the gauge - most level faults sit in the sender or the wiring
• The sender must match the gauge's signal range, so confirm the pairing whenever either is replaced
• It replaces both 863940 and 863941, so either old reference orders this gauge
