🔌 Function

Cools the compressed air leaving the turbocharger before it enters the cylinders, raising its density so the engine can burn more fuel cleanly.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Power down, and the exhaust smokier than normal
  • Charge air temperature reading high on the diagnostic tool
  • Oil or coolant traces in the charge air pipework
  • Fins found blocked, bent or corroded through
  • Leak showing when the core is pressure tested

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Pressure test the cooler before condemning it, and check the charge pipes and clamps at the same time
  • If a turbocharger has failed, clean or renew the cooler before running the new one - debris left in the core will destroy it
  • A heavy item at 13.50 kg, so plan the handling
