🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta starter motor weighing 8.655 kg. It supersedes part number 23025980 and covers its 44 TAD series engine applications. A remanufactured version is also catalogued here.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Starter motor
  • 8.655 kg
  • Supersedes 23025980
  • Covers the 44 TAD series engine applications of the number it replaces
  • A remanufactured version is catalogued here as well
  • Also supersedes Volvo part number 3803877

🔌 Function

Spins the flywheel ring gear to turn the engine over fast enough for it to fire, then disengages once the engine runs under its own power.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Solenoid clicks but the engine does not turn
  • Cranking speed too low to start, especially when hot
  • Harsh grinding from the pinion
  • Starter stays engaged after the key returns
  • Brushes worn to the holders or solenoid contacts burnt on strip-down

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Confirm battery state, earth path and cable volt drop first - a good starter will crank slowly on a poor supply
  • A remanufactured unit is listed for this fitment and is worth comparing on cost
