⚙️ Key Features

• Heater from the Starting System group
• 1.049 kg
• Supersedes 20758403, catalogued earlier as a starter element
• Covers the 40 applications of the number it replaces across TAD, TD and D series engines
• Also supersedes Volvo part number 20502563

🔌 Function

Warms the intake air before it reaches the cylinders so a cold engine will fire and run cleanly rather than cranking and smoking.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Difficult cold starting with white smoke until the engine warms
• Preheat lamp not lighting, or lighting but nothing happening
• Fuse or relay for the preheat circuit blowing repeatedly
• Element found burnt through or blistered on removal
• Corroded or overheated terminals at the element connection

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check the preheat relay, the supply cable and the earth before condemning the element - the circuit carries heavy current and volt drop looks like a dead heater
• Renew the mounting gasket when the element is refitted and tighten the terminals to avoid a hot joint
