Genuine Volvo Penta M6 bleeder screw from the Fuel System group, weighing 0.002 kg and listed for 246 applications across MD, TMD, D, TD, AQD and AD series engines. It consolidates seven earlier references, so one screw now covers all of them. The bore must be clear for it to bleed.

🔌 Function

Screws into the fuel gallery or filter head and is slackened to let trapped air escape when the fuel system is primed.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Engine hard to start or cutting out after a filter change because the air will not purge
  • Fuel weeping from around the screw once the engine is running
  • Head rounded off or the thread stripped from repeated bleeding
  • Nothing emerging when the screw is slackened, the bleed passage having blocked with dirt
  • Sealing face scored so it only seals when overtightened

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the bleed passage is clear before condemning the screw, as a blocked bore behaves exactly like a seized one
  • Tighten only enough to seal; an M6 thread gives very little margin against stripping
