🔌 Function

Provides the thrust that drives the boat. On an Aquamatic DuoProp sterndrive a front and a rear propeller turn in opposite directions on the same axis, so their side loads cancel and far more blade area works the water than a single propeller of the same diameter could.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration through the hull that gets worse as engine speed rises
• Boat slow to plane and short of the top speed it used to hold
• Blade tips or edges bent, chipped or curled after touching the bottom or debris
• Engine running past its normal maximum speed with no matching boat speed, which points to a spun hub
• Blades pitted, greyed or eroded and paint blistered around the hub when the boat is lifted

🛠️ Service Notes

• Check for a spun hub before condemning a propeller whose blades still look sound - an engine that runs past its normal maximum under load with undamaged blades has usually lost the bond between hub and barrel
• Look at the drive's propeller shaft seals and thrust washer every time the propellers come off - fishing line cuts the seal and a scored thrust washer will chew the next propeller too
• Weight will not separate the Type C references, which sit close together - order by part number, and by the diameter and pitch marked on the propellers already on the boat
