🔌 Function

Carries coolant between two points in the cooling circuit, flexing to absorb the movement between the components it joins.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Coolant level falling, with drips or a coloured crust at the hose ends
  • Hose gone soft and spongy, or hard and brittle, when squeezed cold
  • Swelling or ballooning along the hose, or a bulge behind a clip
  • Temperature climbing under load as a collapsing hose restricts flow
  • Inner wall found perished and shedding into the coolant on removal

  • Check the stubs at both ends for corrosion or scoring before fitting a new hose
  • Renew the clips with the hose and re-check them once the engine has been through a full heat cycle
