🔌 Function

Closes an opening in the housing, keeping water and dirt out and retaining what sits behind it.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Water or oil weeping around the edge of the plate
  • Corrosion, pitting or blistered paint on the plate face
  • Distortion from impact or from over-tightening the fixings
  • Loose, missing or corroded fasteners
  • Perished gasket or o-ring at the sealing face found on removal

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the gasket or o-ring whenever the plate is removed
  • Check the fasteners and the threads in the housing for corrosion - on a submerged housing the fixings usually go first
