Holds the oil filter and carries oil into and out of it, sealing the filter joint against full oil pressure.

  • Oil weeping or running from the filter joint
  • Oil pressure low or fluctuating
  • Oil in the bilge below the filter position
  • Stripped or pulled threads at the filter spigot
  • Cracked casting or a scored sealing face found on removal

  • Renew the housing gaskets and o-rings and fit a new filter at the same time
  • Check the filter sealing face is clean and flat before condemning the housing - most filter leaks are a seal or a doubled-up gasket
