🔌 Function

Carries the camshaft in its bore, holding the shaft on centre and providing the oil film that keeps journal and housing apart.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Rumble or knock from the camshaft area that changes with speed
• Oil pressure down when hot or slow to build
• Metal glitter in the oil or on the filter element
• Shells found scored, spun or showing copper through the overlay
• Camshaft journal worn or with a visible step at the edge of the bearing

🛠️ Service Notes

• Measure the camshaft journals before fitting - a worn shaft will ruin a new bearing quickly
