🔌 Function

Carries the compressed charge air between the turbocharger and the charge air cooler, holding its shape against boost pressure and the heat of the compressed air.

  • Boost low or slow to build, sometimes with a whistle under load
  • Black smoke and power down under load
  • Oil mist or soot staining around a joint
  • Hoses at either end found soft, swollen or blown off their spigots
  • Pipe found split, chafed or corroded through on inspection

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Renew the hoses and clamps at each end when the pipe is fitted - they fail more often than the pipe does
  • Pressure-test the charge air side after fitting rather than relying on a sea trial to find a leak
