🔌 Function

Transfers heat from the engine oil into the coolant circuit.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil
  • High oil temperature under load
  • External weeping at the end seals
  • Internal fouling reducing heat transfer

🛠️ Service Notes

  • The core is aluminium, so use a coolant approved for aluminium engines and keep the inhibitor topped up
  • Renew the sealing rings on refitting
  • Flush both circuits if the cooler has failed internally
