🛠️ Service Notes
- Fit the belt over the pulleys by hand and let the tensioner take it up — never lever a ribbed belt on with a screwdriver, which cracks the rib flanks and shortens its life
- Check that every rib sits in its pulley groove and that the belt runs central on each pulley before cranking the engine
- Inspect the tensioner and every pulley face while the belt is off; a rough bearing, a rusty tensioner arm or a scored pulley will destroy a new belt
- Note the routing before removal, then turn the engine over by hand once the new belt is on and re-check the run and tension following the procedure for your engine
- Keep oil, fuel and coolant off the belt, and renew a contaminated belt rather than trying to clean it
